I’ve lived in the Raleigh area for over 30 years and married since 1995 to my husband, Tim. Between us, we have four adult children, two grandchildren and a third on the way. I have been a lab technician for an orthodontic practice for many years. However, my passion is in art. Drawing and painting have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. With no formal training, I’ve found that taking art classes at local colleges and studio classes have helped to develop my own personal style. I tend to have a love/hate relationship within the variety of mediums I work, each possessing their unique beauty as well as their specific challenges to master. My faith is an important part of my life, which has led me to add a verse of scripture to the back of each finished painting. I believe that the gift of an artistic eye to create beauty and emotion on canvas are a direct reflection of this gift and my relationship with the Lord.
Over the years, I’ve found myself most often painting florals and landscapes in a variety of mediums including acrylic, oil, and watercolor. I truly enjoy working on pet portraits as well, knowing that capturing the distinctive personalities and charm of some of our “furry friends” and companions can generate such tender emotions from their owners. These can be crafted not only with paints on canvas but also using colored pencils on pastelboard, colored inks on scratchboard, or simple graphite pencil drawings. For the last 8 years, I’ve also had the wonderful opportunity of being an artist with the Quilt Trails of the Tar and Roanoke Rivers.
The creative process truly resonates with my soul. I find great joy being able to share through my artwork, some of the beauty that surrounds us, evoke emotional connections and memories, and hopefully in the midst of the busyness of our day, a sense of calm.
